Compendium Challenge #21

Howdy all !    Hope everyone is having a great week .. it's almost over .. Friday is right around the corner...  YAY !!!    This weeks compendium challenge is #55 .. Rock Candy Distress Glitter.

I decided to do a tag .. I grabbed a #8 Kraft tag.   I decided with Valentines Day coming I would do another project to kill two birds with one stone.   This will also be my card for my hubs :)  I recently won a give away from Tim Holtz and I won the Bird Crazy set.   I love this set, the birds are so cute and crazy.

So I did the technique .. this was the first time I used Rangers sticky embossing powder .. this stuff ROCKS !  I'm going to use this a lot more now that I know how to use it.    So here is the technique, kinda hard to see the glitter.

So I cut me out two of the birds that would be facing each other.   I just got my Cracked Pistachio distress set so I HAD to use it.   I decided to rub on some cracked pistachio distress paint. Once I did that I used my marker and went over the lines again to make it pop.

I used the wording from Tim's Words For Thought set stamped on kraft paper.   I used Festive Berries distress ink to ink the edges.  I used a stamp from Wendy Vecchi (also a Wendy stamp on the background) I stamped it in festive berries distress 5 times.   Used one full one for the top of the tag and cut four hearts out from it.  I used glossy accents to make the hearts shine and put them on wire

So here's the finished tag .. I think it turned out so freakin cute !!!!!

And more pics

Tim Holtz's February Tag

Howdy all and Happy Happy Friday !!

I'm so proud of myself ..  it's only the 6th of the month and I have Tim's tag done .. I"m super early again .. woo hoo.    Ok, I know it's only been two months, but I'm still excited :)    There was sewing .. well let's call it what it is .. stitching really ..  but to someone like me who is afraid of their sewing machine it's all sewing !   Here's proof that I do own a sewing machine

So when you see my finished tag .. you'll probably ask yourself "  self ..  why if she owns a sewing machine did she not use it and she hand stitched ?"   LOL    Well let me tell you .. it's because the thread came out of it's long path from top to bottom and I can't remember how to weed it all back through  :)    So I just keep looking at it like magically it's going to re-thread itself ..  nope, hasn't happened yet.

So we started with adding different ephemra to the tag in a quilt like pattern.

I added some white picket fence paint to shabby it up ...then we used the black soot marker and traced along the edges of the ephemra and rubbed it out.

The I added an arrow with a heart charm .. I love these little charms !!

I put on a foil frame and then put in my heart which was cut from wool felt ( love that stuff!!)  I hand stiched it with wax linen thread because that was what was on the needle.   Can you tell by now I have this fear of anything that involves sewing or stiching .. LOL

I added some seam binding dyed with Antique Linen and it's complete .... YAY !!   Another tag to add in my binder I made especially for my tags.    This binder was made for the Compendium Challenge that I also participate in which is SUPER COOL !!!

I hope everyone has a great weekend and finds time to play and create.

Thanks for stopping in for a look .. Happy Crafting !!!!

Compendium Challenge #20

Howdy all and Happy Monday !!    Things at my house are starting to settle down and both my hubs and my Pug are home and doing great .. YAY !!    So the challenge this time around for CC3 is "Distress Watercoloring - Part 2".    Lately I've been so in love with the watercolor look ..  I really like the softness of the colors, and you can use it on any project.

I tried a couple different things before I decided to just go with a card .. I have a friend's birthday coming up so again I decided to kill two birds with one stone like last challenge  :)   I totally forgot to take "during" pics .. I was so focused on trying to figure out what I was going to do .. that I didn't even think to take any .. lol   The shadowing effect needs some work, but it wasn't bad for the first attempt at this technique.

I used one of Tim's blueprint sets "Easter Blueprints" and grabbed the butterfly .. I figured this would allow me to use more colors.   Looking back now I wish I would of added some distress glitter over the butterfly, but I can still do that it's not in the mail yet  :)    My distress marker colors are, picked raspberry, peacock feathers, vintage photo and seedless preserves.   I added some mirror stars, a trinket pin and used some ribbon colored with the picked raspberry and peacock feather.  Here is the finished card and some close up picks of the butterfly.

First project and post of 2015 !!

Happy New Year everyone !!   I'm not sure why .. but I think 2015 is going to be a good year ..  it's started off pretty good.    It's only the 5th day in and I'm done with my January Tim Holtz tag.   I have to say December was pretty much a blurr.  I missed three Compendium challenges (so bummed) and completed half of Tim's December tag.    The time just got away from me with the holidays and all that includes.

But it's a new year and I'm going to once again promise myself to make time to create and post on my blog .. other than that the only resolution I made is to find a job .. fingers crossed.

So on to Tim's tag .. this one was so cool .. heck anything that involves Distress paint and stains is super cool  :)     I started with a #8 tag and covered it with Tim's tissue wrap ..  glued that down on the tag, used my heat tool to dry it and then sanded the edges to ruff it up.   Then is added some salty ocean and mustard seed distress paint .. dried that and then sprayed on walnut stain distress spray.

Then I used the alpha parts numeric .. I put the "twenty" the "one" and 5.   I used mustard seed distress paint and painted the words ..dried partially and wiped the rest off.   I used glossy accents and mustard seed distress glitter on the 5.    I love mustard seed .. totally my go to color !!!   Then I placed chit chat stickers around the tag .. I used a coat of mod podge over the top to keep them there :)

Here is the finished tag .. so cute !   I'm working on a worn corn cover to house all my 2015 tags .. I'll share once I finish it.

I hope everyone has a great week !!

Compendium Challenge #15

Howdy all !    I can't believe we're already on the 15th challenge !!   WOW, I might not be doing the greatest at blogging lately, but I have done all 15 of the challenges so I feel like I've accomplished something  :)     So this challenge is #38 - Cabinet Card Frames.   This is one of those things that I've had sitting in my stash (like many others) that I just wasn't sure what to do with.   but after seeing all the beyond amazing projects from the Curiousity Crew .. I had a better idea.

I went to a garage sale in my neighborhood and bought these 8x10 wood plaques .. figuring I could use them for something .. afterall they were 20 cents a piece !!     So here is the base of my project

We took the Grandkids to see Santa this weekend so I'm all about Christmas now.    I covered the board with Tim Holtz Merriment paper stash paper, then I used his Christmas layering stencil to put some words with texture paste around the outside edges.

I didn't take many in between photos because I just started rolling in the creative process and forgot :)   I used all kinds of Tim goodies for this one .. Kraft glassine paper, hitch fastners, tinsel twine, a monicle, some remnant rubs and a couple more which I have forgetten their names  :)    So here is the finished project ..  I"m not 100% happy, but heck when I am ever with my own creations.

Compendium Challenge #14

Happy Wednesday all !!    I have been so bad about blogging .. I was doing so good at the beginning of the year and then it's like all my creative time was taken up by other things.  At least with the Compendiums Challenge I blog every other week  :)

The challenge this time around is 53 - Colored Crackle.  I was crackle challenged until I sent Tim  an email and asked him what the heck I was doing wrong, I couldn't get it to crackle at all.   Tim said to spread it like peanut butter, glob it on and being the smarty that he is .. IT WORKED !!  :)   I was spreading a thin layer so it would dry quicker and that just wasn't the way to do it !

So I had started out to do a tag, but next to me was a little hook thingy that I got at Hobby Lobby on the sale rack for $2.40.   I don't have a before pic, but it was black/white zebra print inside and the same blue frame.   So I coated the inside with silver paint and then I threw on some distress clear rock candy glitter.

I die cut the snowman and snow flakes out of grunge paper and then put the rock candy crackle paint on the snowman and the snowflakes.    I used walnut stain, wild honey and picket fence distress paint and silver and pool adirondack paints to paint the snowman and snowflakes.    Here's my snowman

Then I added some of Tim's stars and a word band with some of his trimmings to finish it off.   Here is the final project.  I have to say I think it turned out pretty good !!

Remember if you need details or want to check the super talented Curiosity Crew's projects go to Lindaledbetter.com (link on right side on blog)   Tim and Mario are giving an awesome prize pack to the crews choice and Funkie Junkie Boutique (link on the right side on blog)  is giving away a $25 gift card to a random draw.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the week and weekend.  I know mine will be fun because it's my birthday weekend .. nothing like getting 3 days out of a birthday.   It's actually Monday and it's the BIG 5-0 !!!    Yikes

Thanks for stopping in for a look .. Happy Crafting !!!!
